This site was started as a way for people to meet new potential platonic friends in their local area.

Why did you start this site?
We were both looking for friends for different reasons (See About Us). We tried unsuccessfully to make friends via meetups. There was nothing out there like this to meet new platonic friends.

Does it cost me anything to make friends here?
No, it's free.

How do I get started finding platonic friends?
Just sign up, fill out a profile, and start looking for friends. You can search profiles in the “Meet People” area or use the “Activities” menu to make friends.

Who can use this website?
Anyone looking for friends who is at least 18 years old and lives in the US.

Is this an online dating website?
No, it is not for dating. People on this site are looking to meet platonic friends.

What if someone treats this like a dating site and is not just looking for friends?
We make every effort to let people know the site is for platonic friends only and want to keep this a safe and enjoyable way to make friends. You can flag inappropriate use from any profile page or email contactus@not4dating.com.

I received an email that a message was waiting for me in my not4dating inbox, but when I log in, I don't have a message, where did my message go?
When an account is closed, any emails sent while a member was active will be deleted.  We delete these messages because there is no way of corresponding with the user since he/she is no longer a member.

Why are there ads on the site?
We think looking for friends should be free and don't want to charge people a membership fee to make friends. Therefore, advertisers pay for the upkeep of the site.

How do I delete my profile?
Click the deactivate button on the settings tab and then click Save Changes.  To get to the settings tab click on MY N4D, then click on Update Profile, then click on Settings.

I live in NYC and my friend lives in LA, why can't I see his/her profile?
You can only find potential platonic friends within a certain mile radius of your zip code. The site is designed to help you make friends locally so you can only see people in your area.

What is the second zip code area on the profile page?
People that live in two locations can make friends in both locations using the same profile.

I am looking for friends to eat dinner with on Tuesdays and no one came up in the search, why not?
Try expanding your search options. We are a new site and still building our database of people trying to make friends. Please be patient and tell everyone you know about us.
